Verlaten gebouwen vormen vaak de inspiratie voor Staf zijn schilderijen. Als ingenieur-architect vertrekt hij graag vanuit de gebouwde omgeving, maar waar architectuur streeft naar duurzaamheid en tijdloosheid, toont zijn werk juist de onvermijdelijke vergankelijkheid.
